Stenson, Woodland round out Hero field

Henrik Stenson and Gary Woodland have been added to the upcoming Hero World Challenge, rounding out the field of 18 players who will vie for the title in the Bahamas. While the first 16 spots in the field are determined based on major wins and world rankings, the tournament retains two unrestricted exemptions. This year those spots will go to Stenson, who battled injury for much of the year but was a stalwart on the winning European Ryder Cup team, and Woodland, who won the Waste Management Phoenix Open in a playoff in February. Also new to the field is world No. 18 Patrick Cantlay, who takes the place of Players champ Webb Simpson. The additions complete a star-studded field that will include four of the top five players in the latest world rankings: Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau. At No. 32 in the world, Stenson will be the lowest-ranked player in the field.Rickie Fowler will return to Albany to defend his title against a group that will feature tournament host Tiger Woods, no longer in need of the exemption he used each of the last two years to gain entry into his own tournament. The field for the Nov. 29-Dec. 2 event will also include Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Jason Day, Xander Schauffele, Tony Finau, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Alex Noren and Hideki Matsuyama.
